- mdcampingExplorerFor next summer we are looking into Wilderness edge campground in Millinocket, met the owners at a camping show in MA this past winter. They are new owners on what I believe is a newer campground. They seemed to have a good handle on things. Campground is just out side the park so we plan on doing day trips into Baxter. We tow a 20'TT but I believe they can handle the bigger rigs though I would give them a call for specific questions.
I still plan on booking wilderness edge for next summer but I am still keeping my options open on other places to stay so I will keep a close eye on this thread.
Hope this helps,
Mike - photonut4ExplorerHey Mike, I will give them a call but on a review site it says they are not big rig friendly. I am wondering if they have bought this park recently; therefore, being "new" to them. I say this because it only has 30 amp available. That is fine as I don't think I would need anymore than that up there, but generally new parks put in 50 amps (at least a couple of them). I will let you know what I find out when I call. Also for your TT, I think this would be a great option for you. Also, the Katahdin would also be great for you. You have a great size rig that can get in basically everywhere. We are fulltimers, so we wanted a larger rig which comes in at almost 39'.

From what the new owners had told me they just bought the campground this past summer and the previous owners who had owned it for 2 or 3 years. He said the previous owners sold it because one of them had a job change. The new owner said he planned on to continue to up grade the campground.
We have flexibility with our smaller trailer, were just looking for a clean, safe facility, level sites and reliable hookups.
Mike - GaryInMaineExplorerTake a look at Pine Grove. I have never stayed there, but have visited a couple of times, nice quiet setting, easy to maneuver, with pull through sites.

This place looks perfect! Thank you so much. I am going to call today and see if they have a pull thru available. Fingers crossed as a lot of places are filling up/or have filled up for the coming season. :) - photonut4Explorer

Thank you very much for that. Unfortunately there is nothing available close to Baxter State Park, so I have reserved a site farther out and we are renting a cabin at Big Moose Cabins and Inn in Millinocket. I like to be at the hiking trails really early, so this seemed like the best option. Thank you to everyone that responded.
