Beachfront CGs along Texas Gulf coast?

Hi...Looking for FHU Oceanfront campgrounds along the Texas Gulf Coast similar to SC/NC/FL CGs? Any recommendations since way out of our area.
TIA....
  • Looking for a site on the beach? Won't be any with FHU. Even at Galveston Island SP the best you can do is water and electric, and the RV sites are not quite on the beach.

A RV park (not campground) on the beach, but FHU sites back on high ground with short walk to the beach? That would Gulf Waters RV Resort on Mustang Island. I can recommend it if you are not squeamish about price. There is public transport into Port Aransas for most of the day. The year I was there, Gulf Waters was the end of the line for the Port Aransas "trolley" service.

Quite a few of the waterfront RV parks on the Texas Gulf Coast are actually on the bay side to the barrier island, or on an inlet, or in some cases on the water across the bay from the barrier island.

There is a city RV campground in Port Aransas that is on the beach more or less (kind of off an inlet) but you won't have FHU, and to get in and out of the campground sometimes you have to wait for them to come with graders to clear the road in and out. The sand on the ocean side of the barrier islands is constantly moving.
  • We like www.nuecesbeachparks.com - county parks out of Port Aransas.
  • X-2 on Matagorda, but we also like Quintana Beach

It's a Brazoria county park just southwest of Freeport, TX. Full H/U sites, nice beach, fishing pier, etc.
