- ulvikExplorerWe boondock quite a lot all over this country and never once had any issues but yes we are armed anyway. Better to be safe than sorry!

News Flash:
The really bad guys have already figured out that THEY can have the upper hand, no matter how many guns you have, IF they get in the first shot(s) at close range. Maybe in the back while you are running to get one of your guns. - agesilausExplorer III

I find a few of these strategically placed around the area work well. We tend to angle them down a little which keeps the 8 yr old nosepickers and their bicycles lower to the ground while airborne through the woods.
LOL I bet that went right over the head of most people. How is Trixie these days anyway? - Ralph_CramdenExplorer III find a few of these strategically placed around the area work well. - Army11BravoExplorer III always have a handgun in the cab of my pickup and usually more in the trailer. In Montana, I am more apt to use a gun to put a deer out of it's misery after a motor vehicle accident. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my weapons to other states (and have), but they stay hidden, but accessible if needed. The only place I will travel and leave them at home is crossing the border into Canada or Mexico.
I have a CWP and exercise my right to carry. I carry nearly everywhere I go for the protection of my family and everyone around me - including at my church. But I take it seriously and don't underestimate the responsibility. - BizmarksMomExplorer

This times 100. I'm more of a target at the local grocery store than I am camping off of a logging road. Predators are looking for easy prey - they are more likely to find that at the mall than they are in a dispersed camping area.2oldman wrote:
In 15 years I've never felt threatened. Criminals are lazy, they generally don't drive to secluded places.
X2
I've camped all over northern California and have never been threatened let alone felt threatened.
And, as I answer when folks question my being a woman and camping alone, I am at more risk in my home town shopping, etc., then I am out in the forest. A criminal waiting in a dark alley in town will find a victim a lot faster than one waiting behind a tree in the forest... - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIHaving spent 30+ years in CA and boondocking I always carried.
Lots of METH heads out in the boonies and they are paranoid and armed.
CA deserts are prime areas and one never knows WHO is already out there.
Course I grew up using weapons, did Cowboy Action Shooting for years, had CCW (in CA and other states after LEAVING CA), training and exercising that training.
Should others carry.....that is a personal choice and a RIGHT
BUT with that choice comes very heavy responsibility which can be a heavy burden.
Training, practice, knowing when/where and being able.
Choices/responsibility ---neither should be taken lightly - pianotunaNomad IIIWell Said Phil

Unless CA laws have changed since I escaped 6 years ago, you can legally have a "legal" firearm in your house, campsite, and RV.
Never needed it and don't expect to, but it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
