We've booked a few nights at St. George Island SP on the panhandle later this winter and are thinking it might be a good chance to explore the area for an extra few nights. Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for campgrounds in the area. We'd be open to going in any direction.Any advice appreciated.

We stayed at Falling Waters State Park (Christmas week 2013), St. Andrews State Park (March 2014), and St. Joseph Peninsula State Park (Christmas week 2014). We will be at Florida Caverns State Park Christmas week 2015. All great parks in their own way. Each one unique. Love them all!

St Andrews is at Panama City, and yes these state parks will accommodate a 40' TT. Check the Florida State Park reservation system for availability and campsite information. There are more State Parks in the Pan Handle area. When we were there last March, we explored several of them, trying to decide where to go for Christmas 2015. All of them are nice and can handle larger rigs.

Going further west Grayton Bch SP and Henderson Bch SP. Less appealling in the winter but nice places.

It's a little east of Milton but we have always enjoyed our stays at Blackwater River State Park. You can float down the river if you like and many of the sites have been upgraded to 50 amp FHU.

St Andrews is at Panama City, and yes these state parks will accommodate a 40' TT. Check the Florida State Park reservation system for availability and campsite information. There are more State Parks in the Pan Handle area. When we were there last March, we explored several of them, trying to decide where to go for Christmas 2015. All of them are nice and can handle larger rigs.
