camping around Seattle

Hi,

Kayak Point is about 30-45 min. (about the same distance as Des Moines in the opposite direction) North of Downtown Seattle in Tulalip area and it is on the Sound. It is a great campground with some hookup sites. No pool, but our kids always had fun there.

We have stayed at Saltwater State Park in Des Moines a few times. No hookups, but that's OK for 3-4 days. It is close to Seattle. Last time I parked motorhome at a "park & ride" lot and took light rail to downtown Seattle.

There are not a lot of good choices close-in to Seattle. NW Trek Club had a rally at the KOA last fall. It is a little high, but they have the market. It was pretty good for a KOA from the 1970's.

Museum of Flight is in south Seattle.
Boeing factory tour, restoration center, and Paul Allen's flying museum are all in Everett, north of Seattle.
Seattle Center (Pacific Science Center, Space Needle) easily accessible by public transit.
New museum of history and industry on Lake Union sounds interesting.

Have fun in the Emerald City.

Several years ago we tried KOA in Kent, however they had low power (105V) and surge protector would not connect, glad it didn't. We have stayed at Lake Pleasant several years, no problems, however expensive. Lake Pleasant Reviews

The KOA is a good choice, it's located right blow the FWY to Seattle in Kent, WA it's the easy way to all of Seattle, about 12 miles away.
Iam no fan of KOA but they got the location-- Its not a bad location for a park that's close to Seattle, quite there as it's on 208th. Big sites, so may be the cost is some what high it's 15mintues from Baseball.

Looks like either Dash Point or lake pleasant . May try a few days at each?

They cut those trees out of necessity. A couple HUGE wind storms brought down hundreds of trees in that area. We were there, last summer, right after one of those storms and it was AWFUL, areas looked like a game of Pick Up Sticks!
