Camping on Lake/River in SC or NC

I am looking for suggestions for camping on a lake or river in South Carolina or North Carolina. I was looking for some place that we could stay for a week where there would be things to see and do. I enjoy the coast and I plan to visit there too but I was looking for something a little different. I would want to be in a campground with full hookups.

I welcome all suggestions, and I hope for advice from those that have visited these areas.

    Look at Rocky Hock cg near Edenton NC. It is only 1.5 hrs from the Outer Bank but the cg is on the Chowan River which is fresh water. You can put a boat over, canoe or go into Edenton. Edenton is like a little Charleston. Lots to see and do in the area.

    Look at Tuckaseegee RV Resort located on the Tuckaseegee river between Whittier and Sylva, NC. It's a great park close to the Smoky Mountain national Park, Fontana Lake and Lake Santeetlah. Also close to the Nantahala Gorge white water rafting center.

    As soon as you said you want full hookups,you ruled out alot of great spots.There are many great COE and State Parks along with a few Forest Service Campgrounds.I assume there are some that have FHU's but many more have W&E.

    In South Carolina.....Strom Thurmond Lake, Hartwell Lake, Lake Keowee....just a few

    North Carolina....many mountain area lakes, Jordan Lake between Pittsboro and Apex

    I'm sitting in the Cheraw State Park right now. Right on a lake - bit too cold right now but you can swim, canoe, hike, mountain bike, horse riding within the park.

    A couple of miles away you have Cooper Black Rec Area, Sandhills Refuge and Sandhills State PArk. Lots of out door stuff to do and the town of Cheraw is quite large. Mytle Beach is 100 miles away, Columbia is 60 miles away.

    Lots of stuff to keep you occupied for a week
