Very true. It also depends on if you are talking about private or public campgrounds, rv parks or actual campgrounds, etc.
I have a couple campgrounds that are open seasonally and I want a specific site. I reserve well in advance for those campgrounds because they fill up and I am picky.
On the other hand, there are campgrounds I use and don't worry about reservations because it is off season or I am not picky about which site I get.
