I am planning a trip and wanted to stop in St. Louis. Casino Queen RV Park appears to be the closest to the downtown sites and I was wondering if anyone could give me any information about the campground and the area. If you have a better alternative I would like to hear about it. Thanks in advance.

Cons: difficult to find, industrial area, no grass or trees, expensive laundry, rate is high for what you get, train noise. Quite a drive into the city though. Another option is in St Peters - 370 Lakeside RV campground municipal park with full hookups, grass and walking trail along lake. Not fancy but a good option if you don't mind driving to get into the city.

I only want to stay two or three nights and get back on the road. So I can put up with some of the negative points. Do you know if they have a shuttle over to the Arch ?As long as the campground is safe and close to where I want to go, it sounds good to me. Thanks.

We stayed there one night on the way through the area so that we could tour the Arch. I really liked the convenience and would definitely stay there again. We stayed in the newer section (no grass) that has paved sites with gravel between them. They were much larger sites and I would stay in that section again. We felt very safe in the park and it is patrolled by the casino security. You can take the casino shuttle to the entrance of the subway train. That will take you across the river bridge to the Arch. We did not have a tow vehicle with us and found the shuttle/subway to work very well. I also enjoyed being able to go over to the casino for a while that evening.I personally had no issues finding the place and thought it was fairly easy in and out. I do tend to review satellite images of places before I go so I can get acquainted with the area and roads.

I stayed there a few years ago. No problem finding it and the facility was good. The noise from the trains is a problem. Some sites are as close as 135 feet from the tracks.

We stayed there in summer 2013 and were happy. The shuttle to and from the train worked very well and the convenience tote Arch was exactly what we wanted.

We took the Metro with no issues at all. There were hardly any riders when we used it. We would not take it after dark but then we would not be out and about then anyway. Casino security is very good and we felt safe during our stay. If you are a baseball fan, take a tour of Busch Stadium. If you want to attend a home game, the Casino runs shuttles over to the ball park and brings you back after the game. Many people drive to the Casino, park, and take the shuttle but are not staying at the Casino. We found the staff to be customer oriented and we will stay there again.

Just remember,you can't bring protection with you in Illinois and I wouldn't get on the Metro Link without it. If anyone on the Metro asks you what do you think of Michael Brown, be ready to get pummeled. Google it on You Tube.It's so bad they tore down the parking garage at the Arch. Be safe out there.

We have stayed there twice and will stay there again if in St Louis. Very clean park and we had no trouble finding it. You can ride the shuttle to and back from the Metro Link Station at no charge. IMHO the Metro Link is the way to get to the Arch. If you have time take the Metro Link to the St Louis Art Museum. There is a Trolley that you can take from Metro Link station to the Museum.

We have stayed there several times with no problems.
This is one of the reasons I like to stay at Casino Queen.

We found it clean and big enough. There are two sections, one for smaller rigs and one for larger ones. The smaller section has some grassy sites while the newer larger section is only blacktop and gravel. See pics below.

Besides the Arch, be sure to visit the Produce Market, the Riverfront and the Geyser. The geyser is visible from the campground but it's worth the 5 minute trip to the park to see it up close. The campground is right across the river from the Arch....Dennis

We've stayed there quite a bit in the last few years and give it good reviews. Security drives around all the time and shuttle will pick you up and take you to Metrolink or Casino. You can also use the pool at the hotel. Buffet is pretty good, but kids (under 21) aren't allowed since it's in the casino. Great view of Arch and downtown skyline.

My wife stayed there by herself for a couple weeks this past July helping our son move to St. Louis and always felt safe.

It was the best choice for the area. Their directions for the exit need to be revised as the exit has been renamed to be Obama Drive. You have to drive through a rough area to get there but it is not a long drive. You are safe within the park. The view of the arch is fantastic. Yes the trains are noisy but trains and campgrounds seem to find each other. The casino is nice to visit and is a pretty good place to eat. While it is priced high we would stay there again if we were going to see the arch.
