- atreisExplorerJohn Bryan SP is nice, very close to WPAFB, and also next to Yellow Springs, a fun town to visit. John Bryan only has a handful of larger sites - it was originally built for tent camping.
Caesars Creek SP isn't all that far, and is larger with a lot more sites for larger rigs. There's also an Ohio SP near Oxford, OH, Hueston Woods SP, on the other side of Dayton close to the IN state line.
Whitewater Memorial SP in Indiana (one of my personal favorites) is much further away, but very nice. (Plug for IN state parks... :) )
Avoid the one along I-70 in Enon. It's pretty bad. I've no experience with the KOA. - Jim_ShoeExplorer

If you are an FMCA member, there is the free FHU down in SE Cinci. It may be a little far, but you can't beat the price.
We use it a lot when we are going south.

I live just a few miles from the FMCA office and the golf course across the street. Its 67 miles from FMCA to the Air Force Museum, but I don't have a better option. - Rangerman40ExplorerThe KOA is probably your best bet followed by Caesars Creek SP. South Charleston is too far away, and the one in Enon is kinda trashy. John Bryan SP could be fun because of its proximity to Yellow Springs, Glen Helen, Young's Jersey Dairy and the Clifton Mill. There are a couple of interesting things to do Downtown, but you just have to watch where you are because it goes from decent to ghetto real quick.
- Jim_ShoeExplorerI've been there more than once. The museum itself is a huge circular building, and the displays start at the dawn of manned flight and go all the way to the present day. Its a great museum, but wear comfortable shoes. There are places to sit down, but they are sets of four chairs attached to each other. Couples tend to sit in seats 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.
I'm not proud. If my feet hurt, I sit between them. Then THEY move. I'm an extra large. :) - jnharleyExplorerTomorrow's Star is located in South Charleston, OH. It is an adequate, reasonably priced campground. We have stayed there several times.

Matt - rbtgloveExplorerThe State Parks I mentioned are east side of Dayotn the KOA is in Brookville/Englewood west of town. Personnally think going from the east is easier. We live only a couple of miles from the Museum and have for 30 years. The only campgrounds really close to the Museum are primarily full time but may rent for a shorter time if they have the room. One in Enon is one but I wouldn't recommend it. There is one im Fairborn close to WPAFB we stayed in when we moved here but don't know if they still do short stays. Think the choice is one of the State Parks or the KOA, pretty much a toss-up.
- Joyce_in_NYExplorerTomorrow's Stars is a bit outside Dayton, but very nice. The prices are very reasonable and it is well kept.
http://aarvparks.com/tomorrows-stars/ - michigansandzilExplorerWe stayed at the Dayton KOA in April to visit the museum. The campground was fine, a normal KOA experience for us. I believe this is the closest campground to the air force museum. It was easy and quick to get to the expressway and then the museum.
I would recommend it and stay there again if we were to visit the area. - VeebyesExplorer II

I know a lot of people are anti-KOA but the Dayton KOA is one of the best in the country. Here is the direct KOA link.
An experience at that KOA was the beginning of a 5 year boycott of KOA nationwide for us. We have only recently been using KOAs from time to time again.
