- diazr2ExplorerPetit Jean State Park Fabulous place.
- JnJnKatiebugExplorerPetit Jean State Park or Mount Magazine State Park. They will not be cool but will be cooler than anywhere else. Mount Magazine State Park is the highest place in Arkansas. On average it is about 10 degrees cooler that the lower elevations but it can be 100 degrees in July or August so that means it will probably still be 90 degrees with lots of humidity. Both places have nice campgrounds with full hookups and are beautiful.

Would like recommendations for a cool location in Arkansas for July and August, if there is one. State RV Park or private ??
Cool - Arkansas - July and August - nope, none in all my life raised in the state.
Cooler than the hottest - Petit Jean and Mount Magazine are cooler. Say 90s to high 90s sometimes.
Being on a lake where you can take a swim helps. I've spent as much as 12 hours a day in the water. Need lots of sunscreen.
Arkansas is a fantastic state - but it is in the south and has high temps and moderately high humidity in the summer.
Though that will be better than the temps in the Rio Grande Valley.
We would leave Dallas in July and go to Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs in recent years. It wasn't cool, but was much better than Dallas. - Boxer_LoversExplorerArkansas is hot in the summer. Coolest place could be the Dam Park at Bull Shoals Lake in the northern part of the state. Great trout fishing there year round due to cold water being released from the dam. That also cools the valley where the campground is located.
- Mr__CamperExplorerI live within the Tri-Mount area (Nebo, Magazine & Petit Jean) in Yell County. For the summer the words cool and Arkansas would be an oxymoron sentence, like jumbo shrimp, short wait, big baby. It isn't going to happen. It does not cool down at night. That includes the temperature AND humidity. If you come prepared for that there are many places for relaxation and enjoyment.
- PigkisserExplorer IIIPetit Jean and Mt. Magazine.
- bogeygolferExplorerWe love Lake Ouachita State Park. Reasonable boat rentals right there in the park marina, beautiful clear, cool water, and you can go into Hot Springs for some entertainment if you get tired of the lake.
- TyroneandGladysExplorerPetit Jean State Park is great but the water hookup at our site could not be reached with a 25 foot hose. IMHO take a 50 footer with you.
- Kit_CarsonExplorerIt will be hard to find a cool place in Arkansas in July or August.
