Crater Lake - North Entrance
In the news today, for those traveling to Oregon........the North Entrance to Crater Lake is opening today (May 23)!!!! I have to say, it's been a LONG time since I've seen it open so early!!!!

- There's still a ton of snow, but the roads have been cleared. It's actually quite a treat to see the 10' high walls on either side of the road.

The Diamond Lake Jct trip check pic is at 5300'. Crater lake lodge is at 7100'. The north entrance is 5800'. 1800' higher at the lodge than at the Jct. Bull Rider --- you're not just a kidding!!!!!!!! - Take a backpack sprayer full of DEET. Most mosquitoes I've ever seen was at Crater Lake just when the snow was melting off and the weather had warmed up. They looked like smoke they were so thick. Diamond Lake was almost as bad.
Just saying.... - We may stop by then on our way south. Is there still snow? We camped at Thielson View last fall so may repeat.
