I just obtained some stats from the U.S. I-94 report from U.S. Department of Commerce vis Canadian visitations to the US in 2016 (thus far):
January: down 13.4%
Feb: down 13.3%
March: down 13.4%
April: down 16.2%
*this is an extraordinary and consistent drop! Canada also dropped 10.0% for the entire 2015 year and all European countries aggregate was up +10.9% for 2015
Year-to-date (1st Quarter) change for Canadian visits: down 14.2%
Now, compare with all European visitors to US during same quarter 2016:
January: up 7.1%
Feb: up 5.9%
March: up 2.8%
April: down 12.0%
Year-to-date (1st Quarter) change for European visits: down 0.7%
Now, this is interesting:
Of the major European country visitors for 1st Quarter 2016, only the UK, Ireland, Italy and Netherlands is showing an increase in visits to the US. The countries with the biggest jump in tourism to the US during 1st Quarter of 2016 in order, are: Argentina +24.4%, then PRC (China excluding Hong Kong) +14.6%, then South Korea +13.3%
*my stats end at the 1st Quarter of this year
