- dkreuzenExplorerWe were their in 2009 and stayed at Harbortown in Monroe. It's a longer commute to the Henry Ford than the other places but it was very nice and was worth the extra time for us.
- JTHarleyExplorerCheck out Harbortown in Monroe…..nice camp and open year around. short drive to the places you want to go.
- 2012ColemanExplorer IICan't comment on a CG, but you will have an awesome time at the Henry Ford and Greenfield Village Museums.
- Tony_DiannesRVExplorerThanks so very much for the info!
- Matt_ColieExplorer IITony & Dianne,
I have been to both (actually all of those mentioned). I only camped at Camp Dearborn as part of a rally. The others are sooo close to home that my power cord would almost reach.
The Wayne County Fairground is not much, but it may suit.
Detroit Greenfild is an X-KOA that is quite nice. I have had occasion to visit other campers there.
Call before you plan on anything. Many parks in this area are closing for the winter already.
There is not much that is actually close to the Henry Ford Museum Complex. The main building is 18 acres under one roof and the historic village is 200+. Plan on a lot of walking, even if you don't do the village.

Matt - KMP44ExplorerWe stayed at Detroit Greenfield in Ypsilanti when we went to the Henry Ford. Wasn't bad. For being right in the city, it felt like a campground out in the woods. The lake was nice and the sites were fairly large and level. It was easy to get to the musueum. I would stay there again when we go back.
The museum was fantastic. We spent 2 days and couldn't get to everything. Just an amazing collection. We also did the F-150 assembly plant tour. I could have sat there all day just watching them build trucks - over 1200 a day. Plant is shut down right now for the changeover to the 2015 design. Would be really interesting to see them getting restarted. - Tony_DiannesRVExplorerThank you for your suggestions. In Rvparkreviews, I found Detroit Village RV Park in Ypsilanti, just about 20 minutes out of Henry Ford & Greenfield Village. Anyone been here & can offer a recommendation?
- ronfishermanModeratorI would call Wayne County Campground (734) 697-7002) before going there. They are suppose to be doing a major upgrade of RV park. This is a good thing. Adding sewers and 50 amp service for 30+ sites.
Camp Dearborn in Milford is a great park to stay at. They now have many sites that are pet friendly. - michigansandzilExplorerDo a search, there was actually a similar question posted recently.
Henry Ford and Greenfield Village are actually quite interesting but it is in the city and there aren't too many options for camping. Keep an eye for rush hour as well, not fun.
