Glenwood Springs Colorado

We are looking for an RV park in or around Glenwood Srings Colorado, We love state parks, or Federal parks, but would prefer Full hookups. We would also like to stay East of Glenwood Springs
ANY suggestions?
  • I stayed in a private park there several years ago. Can't remember the name.
Just west of the hot tubs.
  • Depends on how far east you mean. The only FHU RV park on the east side of town, but IN Glenwood is at No Name (wast of the I-70 tunnel) called Glenwood Canyon Resort. It's right next to the Colorado River, but also right between I-70 and the E-W mainline of the Union Pacific Railroad through Colorado. So, if you want some peace and quiet, you won't find it there.

Ami's Acres is on the west side of town and up the hill from I-70 and the trains. But you can still hear the traffic noise and trains, just not as loud.

A little less noisy would be staying south of Glenwood in Carbondale. Two RV parks there--KOA and Gateway. There is also a Forest Service campground at Redstone on CO 133 that has electric hookups. But it is VERY popular, so reservations are a must. There are plenty of RV parks, but no state parks with hookups along I-70 east of Glenwood Canyon, but there are several in the Rifle area along I-70 west of Glenwood. It just depends on how far you want to commute to the Springs.

^^^^ this sort of Sum's it up ^^^^^

A discussion on another site about one of the "Resorts"

Rifle State Park - and Rifle Falls

Used to be one in Marble, but we are really getting away from Glenwood Springs.

Let us Know what and where you decide.

    Best of Luck,
  • The other commenters have already given the suggestions I would. I will add, there is an RV park near Gypsum called River Dance RV Park. I've never stayed, but have passed it many times. It's pretty barren and right by I-70 but it seems clean and well maintained enough. Just not very pretty... Google Street View has a pretty good picture of it.

Also, if you needed to fill up with water and/or dump, there are free dump and water stations at rest areas in Rifle and in Edwards, both with easy access from I-70 and plenty of room to park to use the restroom or stretch your legs.

Yes, we stayed there once just as an overnight. It is a pretty "bare bones" campground, and as I recall, not inexpensive. But it was in the right place for us on that trip, and under the same circumstances I would not hesitate to stay again.

We were looking for a park with exactly the relation to Glenwood Springs that the OP mentioned. This was the best we found to the east.
