Good place between Indianapolis and Louisville??

We are doing a 3 week trip to the Midwest late June/early July and will be heading back home to Virginia passing through this area. Looking for a nice campground to spend 4-5 nights as we will meet up with family. Would like activities for kids (4&7), so something with a pool or beach area and some fishing for the kids to do. Any recommendations? TIA
  • Nashville, IN is beautiful and there is a lot to do in that area. There are several campgrounds there, and if you want electric only there is Brown County State Park.
    In Columbus IN x2.
except they usually have a big deal July 4th and may be booked up already.
  • Thank you for the suggestions. Both places look appealing (ceraland looks like quite the operation!)
  • What about Columbus Woods-n-Water? They have a pool, fishing and play ground.
We have not stayed there, but were looking at an overnight stay in the area while traveling.
  • Nashville or Columbus will be your best bet. Brown County state park is a great park and campground. The hiking trails are wide and easy to navigate, lots of ups and downs, it is nick named mini smokey mountains. The town of Nashville is really neat. Kind of like a mini Gatlinburg. Lots of little shops and resteraunts. Another plus for Brown County is mountain biking. If your family rides there are tons of trails, almost all are maintained. Also there is a large pool in the park.
  • We've been at Columbus Woods n Waters a couple times, the last time in 2009. Nice park, lots of trees & shade but still room for some large rigs. As long as the same owners still run it, I'd recommend it. If you do have a big rig, you may want to reserve a spot.
  • I also recommend Brown County we have been camping there since the kids were little and our youngest is forty seven now. There was always something for everyone to do,two lakes to fish, swimming, horseback riding and like was mentioned in other posts Nashville is a day trip by itself with all the shops.
  • Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like there are some real good options there. I will be sure to check into them. This will be for July 6-10 so might be busy and fairly full
  • After the holiday you should be able to get into any of the mentioned parks.
