Great Basin National Park


Great Basin National Park from Snake Creek Road

One of the least visited national parks is Great Basin. Developed campgrounds and designated dispersed campsites (boondocking) are available for the adventurous.

  • Great Basin is my favorite overnight spot on the way from the bay area out to Yellowstone, I've stopped three times now, and keep wanting to go back as a destination.




    Wheeler Peak campground is a wonderful oasis from the heat below, since its almost 10,000 feet. Access is limited to vehicles 24' or less.

    Yes... the unusual sculptures are still along US 6/50.
  • Thanks for posting, stopping there on are way North next spring for a couple of day's to break up the drive. Good info on camp sites.
