To echo some of what's been said, if you want to visit the park, hike, and enjoy some quiet, but still want a full hookup site, Townsend is the way to go. Elkmont is beautiful if you don't want the hookups. Townsend is quiet and conveniently located. I've stayed at Big Meadow Family Campground and would go back there, and there are other nice campgrounds there as well. We've been there many times and always look forward to going back.
