HIDDEN VALLEY RV PARK, TIJERAS, NEW MEXICO

HIDDEN VALLEY RV PARK IN NEW MEXICO IS VERY DISAPOINTING, this campground is listed as a DELUX, when in reality it's a dive. The entrance from the frontage road is NOT clearly marked, the sign is very small and hidden by the gas station. The road in is narrow and steep, should you meet someone it's too tight for comfort. The registration entrance is short and narrow so much so should another rig would not be able to pass or have room to register. The lower sites aren't too bad, however the 2nd and 3rd levels are in very poor shape. They are tiered, but not very level, there are NO picknic tables as well as no room for them, the distance between rigs is approx. 3' for rigs with slides, without slides you get 5'. They are level but crowded, covered in gravel and overgrown weeds. The railroad ties that are shoring the hillside between sites are rotting and falling downhill. The fact that you are charged a resort fee is ridiculous. Warning, restrooms are near the entrance and it is one building, therefore should you really need to use the potty, find a bush or tree!
This is the first post I've ever done but I feel that future campers need to know what they are getting into. Hidden Valley needs to be hiding!!
  • We stayed there 3 years ago and it was not deluxe then either by any means. It is a Coast to Coast park is why we chose and we stayed there for 4 days. It served its purpose. Management was nice enough. We were not at our trailer much as we were out touring the sights in ABQ. You will not be inclined to sit outside much but they did have a club house and pool. The road in starts to be one way just before the check in office so there would not be traffic passing in the opposite direction. I had plenty of room getting in and out.
  • We live a few blocks from the KOA that dedmiston mentions and it is pretty nice. I have heard about a new RV Park in Moriarity which is east of Albuquerque that has received favorable reviews but I can't remember the name right now (old age sets in). We have stayed at Hidden Valley and it is as the OP described. We spent one night there so we could test everything on our new trailer (four years ago). We have not stayed at the KOA but we do get our propane there and are familiar with the park. Sorry for the bad experience in the Land of Enchantment but welcome to the forum.
  • MeanOman,
Sorry. But your username is too familiar... so I gotta ask.
Do I know you from a DAL retired forum?

In any case, thanks for the campground heads up and welcome to the forum!

Ps I tried to send you a PM, but you’re not allowing PM according to your profile.
  • You need to create and account (free) on rvparkreviews.com and write a review of this park so other campers are aware. Just find that park, go to it's page and near the center top there should be a button to click "write review". Thanks for the info.
  • Welcome to the forum and thanks for the review on this RV park. I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

There's a KOA just a few miles further west outside of Albuquerque where we stayed in February and we really liked it. They were doing a lot of upkeep on the place since it was kind of the off-season, and I thought they were doing a great job. I would definitely go back.
