Humboldt Redwood Nat Park/Prairie Creek SP

Good evening,

We are headed for Humboldt Redwood Nat Park/Prairie Creek SP for a weekend in July. No campsites at the SP. Any suggestions for campground accommodations for a 30' TT , two dogs and one spouse near the parks?

Thank you for your responses in advance.

  • The town of Klamath has a number of private RV parks, just north of Prairie Creek.
  • If you want a scouting report for a campground in Klamath, I will be working there all day Thursday. Let me know a name and I can get a look at it.
  • There is a samll RV/cabin place in Redcrest at the top of the Ave of the giants hwy - Redcrest Resort. Limited # of sites - maybe 15. With a population of 112 I'd hesitate to call it a resort. Nice place nestled in the redwoods with friendly office help.
  • We stayed here: Klamath River Rv Park

While the park is not a resort, it is right along a river and we stayed
in a 39' fifth wheel, so you would have no problem getting in. There are other campgrounds in this area as well, all about equally priced.
It was a very nice middle point for seeing so much in the area. We could easily get to Crescent city or Eureka sights and make a day of it.
My review is under buffy, There is more detail there.

The redwoods are just amazing and you definitely will be blessed seeing them, especially if you take some trails through them. What a great experience.

Great park, we stayed there last year. Just don't camp there when the salmon are running....gets very crowded because of the boat launch.
  • We also stayed at Klamath River RV Park. Park has full hookups and Wi-Fi ( not free there is a minimun charge)Clean bathrooms and showers.Humboldt Redwoods is a beautiful park Maybe you could check Benbow Lake .
  • We have stayed at Kamp Klamath near Prairie Creek a few times -- funky, not fancy at all, live music and bbq on Saturdays. Not everyone likes this place, so check it out for yourself.
  • If you are traveling through northern California on highway 101 through Klamath - Klamath River Park, very nice, beautiful grounds, on the Klamath River...well worth a couple of nights stay.
