Ocala National Forest should have quite a few campgrounds that might work for you. You could also call their main headquarters and see what their policy is on boondocking. That is probably the primary place to get away from the crowd.

Nobody mentioned FLA Caverns State Park, not terribly far from St Andrews, but a world away. There is a pretty little spring fed river there, and you can rent a canoe from park. Falling Waters State Park is between the two and is a nice rustic park too. Florida has lots of nice rustic state parks including many with springs. If you look at their website, concentrate on the ones that are showing in the Northwest and Northeast sections on the map.

If you are looking for something between FL and Arkansas, I stopped for an overnight at Foscue Creek at Demopolis AL. Would have loved to have stayed a few days, but it didn't work in my schedule then. On a lake/river with lots of waterfront sites and nice clean bathhouses.

FDR State Park in GA is one of my favorites. I am headed there for Easter weekend, again this year.

If you ever come to Arkansas and need info contact me. We have some really beautiful places here, too. Most people are totally unaware of. Lovely mountains, streams and caverns.

Silver River State Park is very nice, large sites, stayed there a few years ago. Juniper Springs worth the trip, nice as well. Just drove through Wekiva Springs Campground this year in the Orlando area, small campground but decent sized sites.

Someone who responds to a post by suggesting that you try some easy searches doesn't mean to offend you but they have no way of judging how internet savvy you are.

Many things open up if you spend that week in Florida before two of our favorite places: St. Andrews at Panama City, and Ft. Pickens on Santa Rosa Island in the National Seashore.

Right now, in February, during the week, this campground is exactly what we needed. It is mostly empty, we have a beautiful view of the lake,and the temperature and humidity are both pleasant. It is wooded, rustic, and full of wildlife. However, in June, on a weekend, with 90 degree days and 90% humidity, I would probably not like it as much. Its quaintness would probably be overwhelmed by screaming kids, loud engines, and the heat. There are only 31 sites here, but they are pretty open and close. There are some sites for larger rigs - we are in site 14 right now, right on the lake. The sites are sand, many are unlevel, and one of the roads has some tight turns. The water pressure is excellent as is the power. The camphost is friendly and sells wood. The nearest town isn't really a town so get supplies before coming in. I will definitely stay here again, though probably not a weekend during the summer.
