I would like some recommendations on where to stay in the Lancaster PA area with our 5th wheeler.

Lake in wood, Very clean, alot to do. Check out their website, We stayed there 3 times, had the red carpet site. A little pricey but worth it. Great pool and snack bar.

    Ken

who is the German guy who runs the place? Klauss?
  • We stay at country acres twice a year for the past 5 years. Love it every time.
  • Almost all of the sites at Old Mill Stream are full hookup sites. There are just a few that are water/electric only. Most are 30/50 amp with cable.

Most of the Lancaster RV parks are nice. We like Old Mill Stream for its central location. OMS has no pool, but has a creek for fishing (no swimming). There is a small playground. It is next to an amusement park for young children. Beacon Hill is nice but no cable TV. No children allowed.

Correct - but all the sites closest to the stream are primitive sites.
  • Klauss from Lake in Wood has passed away. The campground is now owned by Sun Communities. The same manager, Jerome, still runs the place.

There are a ton of cg's in Lancaster....Spring Gulch, Hickory Run, Oak Creek, Sun Valley, Sill's, Dutch Cousins, just to name a few.

Do to the tourist nature of the area, most of the CGs are on the expensive side (>$60/night). I've been there many times, but I had a really bad experience the last time I was at Spring Gulch. People on the site two over were obnoxiously drunk and shouting with blasting loud music, even though it was during a major downpour storm. It was off-season so there weren't any other campers anywhere around us. The group was so drunk that I was concerned about my safety if I confronted them. It was too late at night to get management involved.
