Moving from OKC to Seattle

Hi everyone! My husband is active duty Coast Guard and we have been told that we will be moving to Seattle next summer. We will be keeping our home in OKC and will live in our Class A for 4 years in Seattle.

My question is: What route would you suggest for us to take from OKC to Seattle and what would you suggest we see and do along the way?

We will be traveling in July 2014. We have lived in San Francisco but that is as far north as we have gone in the NW. We have been to Mt. Rushmore in SD and that is as far north as we have been in the central US.

We are open to any ideas because we have no idea where anything is in the NW or what are the "must see and do" places are.

Please HELP!!

    Well you will be passing a lot of sites Google maps would take you thru Salt Lake City but if you have the time, why not head up to Hwy 90 and check out the Tetons and Yellowstone.

    I90 is probably the best easiest route. Do you know where you will park in Seattle? Or are you lucky enough to be able to live on base.

    At the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, north of Richland, Washington, tours are offered to the Historic B Reactor, the first operating nuclear reactor built in the US in 1944. It is a fascinating tour, and a monument to workmanship and determination. Reservations are required, available on line -- you have time.

    The Tetons and Yellowstone sound like a great idea! The nuclear reservation sounds very interesting.

    We have no idea where we will park the RV. We have just started looking. The CG base does not have an RV park and the other bases are too far away. We will have to find something with a reasonable commute. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know!

    Do NOT call San Francisco part of "the NW" once you get out here to Washington! :W


    Before possibly recommending spots to park your rig: Which Puget Sound Coast Guard base will your husband be assigned to?

    HAHA! Thanks Francesca! I just didn't know how else to describe that we had not been any farther north than that!

    He will be at the CG Base that is located at Pier 36 in Seattle.

    :B WHEW!

    That's good news that Hubby's at the waterfront station,too- opens up a bunch of possibilities on the other side of the Sound. A half hour ferry commute is all he'd have to do if y'all lived in Bremerton or Winslow. He wouldn't have to even bring a vehicle, just walk from the ferry terminal.

    He'd probably actually be closer to work that way- few if any RV parks near downtown on the Seattle side..
