- fla-gypsyExplorerSeems as if some fanboys can be pretty defensive when you call out there favorite non sport.

I'm there and will make the best of it no matter what happens.
You appear to be a big fan....good for you, head over and enjoy it!
This ain't my first trip to the tracks.
Having multi-day package tickets available and restricting certain sections to package buyers isn't new in NASCAR or most other sports either. That is quite different than "forced multi ticket purchases". - SteeljagExplorerLol....relax ! If you don't recall "package race tickets" you are newer to the speedway. I've been there to many times to remember, both the infield and really sweet suites on the back side!
To me, it has become a reality show, and I can't get to the mute button fast enough when Darryl W starts yapping....LOL.
Again, one or two molded bodies, one or two engine builders, and a bunch of decals seperating / indicating Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota.
You appear to be a big fan....good for you, head over and enjoy it! - bighog01ExplorerIt covers Friday morning to Monday at noon. We're here now, plenty of room for everyone.

We are going tomorrow for the Sprint Unlimited weekend. Camping in the infield.
Reduced price if you are OVER 12 years old ??
How many days does that cover ?
Hope you picked a spot in the right area.....as there is a fairly large area restricted to "real" camping....in a tent.
I'll be outside turn one starting later today. - bighog01ExplorerWe are going tomorrow for the Sprint Unlimited weekend. Camping in the infield. It's the only thing affordable there anymore. $75 for no hookups and $65 for anyone over 12 years old. Even gets you a seat in the stands on Saturday night. We've got the toy hauler with generator so no need for hookups.

forced multi ticket purchases,
Then you have the WWF pro wrestling aspect of the sport with mystery cautions?, prearranged who wins the poles? , how penalties on drivers are handled........I'm not sure the race winners are totally prearranged like Wrazzling ........lol, but I believe the pieces are set in place!
There is no such thing as "forced multi ticket purchases".
And the rest of that is just smoke and mirrors speculation created by people who just like to stir up trouble......or who see a conspiracy in EVERYTHING.
Does believing unsubstantiated rumors like that make you happy ??
I hope so but somehow I doubt it. - SteeljagExplorerI lost total interest in NASCAR about four years ago. Way over priced, forced multi ticket purchases, traffic to and from, etc.
It became to much "TV" with the drivers and their "look". The cars are ALL almost identical with only stickers seperating Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, etc......and as far as engines, is there not only two engine builders?
So we watch one or two body molds with stickers indicating manufactor, being powered by one or two engine builders, and being driven by drivers who are told what hair cut and facial hair to have.
Then you have the WWF pro wrestling aspect of the sport with mystery cautions?, prearranged who wins the poles? , how penalties on drivers are handled........I'm not sure the race winners are totally prearranged like Wrazzling ........lol, but I believe the pieces are set in place!
I still do have a interest in the smaller tracks in the Daytona area ( Barberville and NSB) which to me are still real racing....not "TV reality show" racing! - Sam_SpadeExplorer

The tv coverage tries their best to not show all the empty seats but there are plenty of them. Daytona has reduced it's seating, why?
For the same reason that the US oil industry is laying off thousands of workers right now. Short sighted business men in all kinds of fields buy into a "boom" mentality and try too hard to suck up a bigger share while a boom is going on. Then when the bust comes.....and it always does.....they are over-built and over staffed.
Daytona had a seating capacity of something like 145,000 at it's peak. WAY too much to be sustainable. Might still be too big but supply and demand will figure that out in a few years. I suspect that they will be able to fill most or all of the "cheap seats". The suites and other premium seats might be a different story. I do think they are overpriced.
And I fully understand that you might be bored with the "sport" right now. But I find it rather unusual that you feel a need to advertise and defend that boredom. - Bird_FreakExplorer II

Same for me. So many rules and things now you might as well just put the same bodys on all of them as there is very little difference.
NASCAR killed the goose that laid the golden eggs for me. Done with it. It is losing spectators like crazy for a reason
I miss the old days when it was a real race and every team did all they could for horse power and speed. Nothing more than just a show now.
