John S, I live on 299 and drive it almost every day. I also have driven 36 numerous times, I also would recommend that you avoid it you are towing. We travel the Oregon Coast route 2-3 times a year. We really enjoy Brookings Oregon, Harris Beach Campground is one of our favorites. We also stay at the Harborside RV Park when Harris Beach is full. You will find the Oregon State Parks great, many of the California State Parks, not so great. We really like the Coos Bay area for many reasons, we will be leaving for Brookings and Coos Bay at the end of this week. JH
