aerbus32,
I am not familiar with the roads. What is the problem with 36? Steep, or windy, or???
Thanks, John S.
It's a route that frequently is asked about on forums. Each time I drive by the freeway off-ramp I think that one of these days I need to take a picture of the warning posted so that I can share it when the subject arises. People often refer to it as a motorcycle route. Since in-laws live in Redding, we are in the area a lot. One of these days I'm gonna drive it in our C-RV. Over & back will likely be a 2 day trip. 299, which I have done numerous times, has some grades and twisty mountain roads but is very RV doable. No vehicular prohibitions are posted for it as they are for 36.
Have driven 36 a few times from either Red Bluff or Redding. It winds up and down and around the mountains. Took about 4 hours each way from either city. Very little traffic and you can take your time. NOT for trailers or large motorhomes.
