Oregon Beach Camping

The only St parks you'll have trouble getting into are Beverly Beach and Harris Beach. All of the others will have spots open. Once you get closer to Oct, Beverly Beach is more accessible w/o reservations. Harris Beach seems to stay fuller longer.

I really don't think you'd have a problem without reservations beginning the day after Labor Day. At least if you're at a campground around 12-2pm. However, be at a campground on Thursday or early Friday for a weekend spot. Don't try to find one late Friday or Saturday.

Cape Blanco or Bullards State Parks would be a nice first stop. Big sites....Have fun!

We stayed at Beverly Beach SP in June and loved it...reservations made in advance by the way.

Yes, at least our site, was tight for our 40' 5th wheel but once in fabulous and a great park.

We have had good luck with the OR St Parks without reservations. Most have some sites that are not reservable and some don't take any reservations. If you get to the campground mid afternoon after this weekend it should be doable. About the only one that's really difficult to get into even in the off season is Beverly Beach, very popular and no non reservation sites. We like Harris Beach and Ft Stevens but there are others that are just as good.

North of Seaside at Warrenton is the Ft Steven park. BIG place for rv's. Haven't stayed there but did check it out this summer while traveling through. Some of the state parks are in the trees and the roads can be tight. BTW we always stay a few days at the Port of Newport RV Park in Newport. Clean, friendly, convenient. If you want to dry camp you can do that there two. Ask for Clay the host.

I probably worry more than I should about the overall length of my rig. But prior experience in other parks had me in some tight areas with low hanging branches, etc where I was barely able to manauever around the CG let alone get into a spot. Maybe as I gain more experience towing this thing I won't worry as much.

I agree, you will fit in almost all the parks without a problem. I also don't think you will have a hard time finding a spot that week.

As far as some nice campgrounds along the way, here are a few I would suggest:

Gold Beach Area - Cape Blanco SP
Coos Bay Area - Bastendorf County Park or Sunset Bay SP
Florence Area - Carl G. Washbourne SP (Heceta Head light house is amazing)
Yahachts / Waldport - Tilicum or Beachside SP (both are right near the ocean and I believe the couple prime sites in Beachside are not reservable)
Newport - South Beach SP or Bevererly Beach SP are both nice
Tillamook / Pacific City - Cape Lookout SP, also just north is Nehalem Bay SP, but I haven't been there for quite a while, don't remember much about it.
Astoria - Fort Stevens SP (a little ways from the ocean, but there is a lot to do in that area)


If you want a nice stop on the beach for the day (can't camp) you can drive out just north of Pacific City, that is where the photo below was taken. (Note: not in Pacific City, but north of it a few miles, if you try in Pacific City you will get stuck, the beach to the north is very smooth and has very easy access)

Why are you worried in a 35 ft motor home lots of sites in state parks. I have camped in many - if the Oregon parks reservation web sites say you can fit then it will - you can trust it.

Not a state park but great beach and beach access Oceanside RV Park

We just made an 11 day loop to Newport, OR - north down the coast to Long Beach, WA for the International Kite Festival, then on to Ocean Shores, WA.

If worse comes to worse (as a rule) you can tuck in at a casino (free) for a night or two. If they have some big event happening the casino might charge you $15.00. Casino Camping Map. It's often boon docking, but I like that the casinos have security cking their parking lots throughout the night. There were some huge rigs in the RV parking lot at Ocean Shores, WA. Plenty of room for Rvs of all sizes.

The Quinault Casino (Ocean Shores) even had a little shuttle coming out to run the RVers to/from the casino. We're not gamblers, but the food is always good and affordable.
