I am planning a trip to the Outer Banks in a few weeks. I am looking at the National Seashore campgrounds and notice lots of available sites. Usually these kinds of facilities are booked way in advance. I know there are no hookups, but am I missing something? Is there some reason why sites are so available?
From what I understand, is that you are not booking a particular site online. You will be assigned one or allowed to pick one out when you get there. But the reason you are probably seeing more available sites is due to the time of the year. The heat. The bugs. Etc. We will be there in two weeks ourselves. Staying at Oregon Inlet. I chose it because its closer to things than the other ones further south. This will be the first time for us to camp an entire week without hookups and I don't dare do that to my wife and daughter and then take them away from things...lol
We've camped without hookups for a weekend, but not this long. Another reason was due to budget. This is costing us less than half of what a place with hookups will cost. Plus, we want to do more of this type of thing....
