- DelawareCamperExplorerwe like seashore state park in delaware,, it may not be what your actually looking for, the the ocean is right there, the bay is right there, the inlet is right there.... but reservations are going to be hard this time of year for the rest of the summer,,, if you go shoot us an email.. we'll be there for a week around Labor Day
- Doug33ExplorerThanks Spoon for all that great info. I looked on line for reservations at Assateague, and all the electric sites are booked through October. I may try the other CG you suggested.
Breezy Point is about 3:15 from my house. It's also about a hour to drive and take the Metro into DC, which we like to visit also. I'll have to see if they have any available sites later in July or August. - spoon059Explorer IIBreezy Point campground in Calvert County MD is on (and I mean ON) the Chesapeake Bay. You park your RV on the sand about 30 feet from the bay. They are water/electric only. No sewer, no dump station, but they have honeypot service and decent bathrooms. No pets allowed either =(. It is a great campground though. The breeze off the water keeps bugs at bay. It gets a little chilly at night and nothing beats sitting by the campfire and listening to the waves crash against the shore 20 feet away. Highly recommend.
Raystown Lake in PA. I haven't been, but my buddy has been a couple times (Lake Raystown Resort campground) and we are going at the end of the month. Its situated right on the lake and has a lot of lakefront sites and a lot more lakeview sites. Prices range depending upon time of year and proximity to water. Sounds like a great time and I am looking forward to going! Water and electric sites, no sewer though. They do have a dump station and the bathhouses are pretty clean according to my friend.
Wife and I went to Otter Lake 2 years ago in the winter. It was God awful cold in the winter, I imagine its beautiful in the summer. Not a huge lake, but not small either. Its up in the Poconos, not much to do around the park though.
Just got back from 4th of July at Point Lookout... it is close to the water but no sites have direct access to the water unless you feel like forging your own path through bug, rodent and snake infested reed grass. Two loops have pier access where you can fish. It is a state park with a public beach at the furthest southern end of the park. Their were a ridiculous number of jellyfish in the water though. Standing on the pier at one point we counted 17 different jellyfish within view, and thats in the dirty Chesapeake Bay water. Sites are mostly electric only with water spigots placed throughout the park and a dump station. They have a few full hookups, but they are furthest from the water. My FIL loved it, the MIL, wife and I didn't care for it so much...
You've already tried Deleware Seashore Park, that would be my only other suggestion. Sites aren't terribly small, its directly on a canal between the Atlantic and 2 bays. It is essentially a parking lot though... - Doug33Explorer

Yup - that's why I'm asking for feedback. Unfortunately in NJ none of the state parks even have electric. I've stayed at the State CG in Indian River, DE, which is right on the inlet between the ocean and bay. This CG has full hookups. Unfortunately the sites are very small, there is no shade and you aren't right on the water. But you are only a 5-minute walk to the swimming beach on the ocean side. I stayed there in a PU once, and it was so windy that some of the gusts lifted the beds up slightly. I left early to go home, since I couldn't even sleep due to the noise from the buffeting of the canvas. Obviously you wouldn't have that issue with a TT, except maybe the awning. - RGar974417ExplorerAll those state parks and COE campgrounds have electric.Promised land has some full hookup sites. When you say you want to be on the water and want full hookups,it limits your choices.
- Doug33ExplorerI should have mentioned that I would want a full hookup site. As a bare minimum, I would need electric to run the A/C. In the heat of the summer the inside of TT is unbearable without A/C. If need be I can run the water tank with the pump and dump the black tank on the way out (provided it's only a few days).
I wouldn't use the TT without A/C until at least mid-September. At least by then the humidity starts to come down and it cools off at night. - RGar974417ExplorerIn, Pa, Promised Land State Park, Pickeral Point Campground has some right on the lake.Locust Lake State Park has several that are within 30 ft of the lake with nice lake views.Easy carry down for canoes. If you want to go to West Virginia,Burnsville Lake Bulltown Camping Area has a number of sites right on the water with posts to tie up your boat.
- D___MExplorerBar Harbor RV Park in Abingdon, MD. They even have a couple of sites that you can pull your Class A in forward so you can have a water view out of your windshield.
- dahkotaExplorerJanes Island State Park in MD has a few on the Bay.
Elk Neck State Park in MD has a few on the bay. Campsite photos
Point Lookout State Park has a few on a 'lake' that feeds into the Potomac and has access to the Bay on the other side.
If you are willing to head further south, North Bend COE and other campgrounds around Kerr Reservoir are excellent Campsite photos - magnusfideExplorer III recommend that you check the state parks of the various states in which you are interested. Bing.com will turn up the websites of the various DNRs of the states.
