But don't you have to walk across the border into Mexico to get a taxi? I can't remember ever seeing a cab on the U.S. side of the border that would drive you across. Also, the wait time crossing the border back into the U.S. in a vehicle is a lot longer than walking across. This may have changed in the past few months since I haven't made the trip yet this year. When I did drive, I purchased Mexican insurance (at AAA I think) and had my passport. The only negative was the long lines of vehicles crossing into the U.S. due to U.S. custom enforcement at the border. But if you have the time and your health prevents you from walking, take your RV/auto and enjoy the trip.
