Question for those that have successfully used the PA membership.....
Have you found or felt that you were given a site that might of been less preferred or desirable that might be offered to someone that pays full price? Not saying that parks would do that. The thought just came across my mind though...
Never have and been using it a long time.
X2 - some parks are better than others, but we have had some very nice sites at some very nice campgrounds. We have used the discount many times for stays longer than an overnight - just depends on what the park policy is and often that can be negotiated if the park is not full. Any revenue is better than none! - dieharderExplorerYou're going to get good and bad with PA. It's very easy for it to pay for itself.
Many campgrounds only have certain sites available for the discount and, if they're rented, you're SOL. For example - Jolly Roger in Marathon, FL only offers the discount on the smaller internal sites. Then there are campgrounds where it doesn't matter and can get the discount on any site. Every campground is free to set whatever restriction it wants, as long as there is one site that they allow the discount to be applied to at some point. - crudemanExplorer

To be perfectly honest - I'd be happy with a 'less preferred' site for half-price.
Most commercial RV parks, that I've seen, which are located on frequently traveled routes have a few spots for 1 nighters (or other less than a week folks) near the front of the property/ office. Usually pull-thrus.
And most commercial RV parks want to charge premium prices if you are stopping for just one night. I really hate paying full price for a 12 hour stop where I don't even unhook the TV, connect only electric (almost never water and only sewer if the tanks are full).
Which is why so many folks go to Walmart or other similar places and dry camp at night.
PPA gives me a relatively decent option if I want power many times.
(Another note - we've found that traveling on Monday or Tuesday is the best time of the week for the least stress. We try to avoid traveling on Friday or Saturday. Setting up in most campgrounds and RV parks is more a hassle when we are coming in with the weekend crowd.)
For me - PPA is for traveling, not for destinations. Now, I've gotten some nice discounts at PPA parks when I stayed longer than a few days, because I asked. - VeebyesExplorer II

Most of the time, no, but a few times, maybe.
You are getting something for half price. There are concessions to be made sometimes for that cheap price. - No, we have been given a choice of sites at some locations.

You avoid any potential rude surprises and they appreciate knowing that you are coming. Some are out in the boonies (our favorites), and a little local knowledge on directions, where to fuel/food up, sights to see on your way in are helpful.

have been in some real nice cg, hard to beat $ most are very good , i found out its best to use the ones that have quiet a few sites (avoid 5- 10 sites)
When I used PA there certainly was no indication in the book/site as to how many sites they would rent out at 1/2 price. I think it would vary depending on how many full rent sites had been sold and what it would take to fill up the park. but I guess this is one reason to call and rent early in the day, before they are gone.

when you look in the PA book it will give the Cg web site to ck on how it looks, # sites ect I also meant total sites nothing to do w/
PA avail.
yes, I certainly think I would pass on a campground that only has 5-10 total sites.
