We are heading east and wanted to stop in Sedona. This RV park came up on the Google search. Seems to have good reviews. We will be coming in from LA late in the day and wanted to spend the night around there. Next morning we hoped to walk over to the TLaquepaque shops. We aren't sure how long we would stay and if we would need to spend another night in Sedona or move on to the GC. Hope they're dog friendly!

Very nice RV park at a great location. Don't miss the turn off to the park. Otherwise you end up on Schnebly Hill rd which is NOT RV friendly!For many years the normal route into and out of Sedona has been 179 to/from I-17. 89 north to Flagstaff is not recommended for RV's because of several hair pin turns 13 miles north of Sedona.Recently several round-a-bouts have been created along 179 southeast of Sedona. Perhaps someone else here will have knowledge if these are difficult with an RV.The alternative is to use 89 and 260 to/from I-17. All good road. Anyone know if 30 between 89 and I-17 is good for RV's?

Hi DAS26miles! Coincidentally, I live in Sedona and grew up in the SFV!You can drive to Sedona via I-10 through the Phoenix area or I-40 through Flagstaff. Both ways are about the same time and mileage. Either way, get on I-17 then take exit #298 (Hwy 179) to Sedona. Yes, there are several roundabouts along Hwy 179, but no problem with my motorhome, so you certainly should have no problem driving through them.mileshuff is referring to Hwy 89A (not 89) between Sedona and Flagstaff, aka Oak Creek Canyon. Beautiful drive. That's another way to get between the two towns (alternate to I-17 and 179). There are about 2 miles of switchbacks to ascend/descend the canyon. Otherwise it is several miles on the canyon floor alongside the creek. We used to drive it in our previous 23' Class C, but don't drive it with our current bigger motorhome. Sort of narrow with trees and rock walls along the road. So if you are experienced and comfortable, you actually could drive it with your RV. But the easier route would be I-17 and 179.When is your trip? Try to arrive before dark to see the scenery as well as to avoid critters (or big critters!) that may be on the road.Rancho Sedona RV Park is a nice park, naturally wooded and by the creek. Look at their website. Right on the front page, it says they are dog friendly!...as long as you follow the rules.If you drive in on Hwy 179, stop at the Ranger Station Visitors Center at the south end of town (if it's not too late) to get lots of info.I would plan a second night in Sedona, especially since you will be arriving late in the day. Hike/walk on one or two of the many trails. You can park your motorhome at several of the trailheads, most noteably along Hwy 179. You might want to take the Sedona Trolley Tour and/or a Jeep Tour. Visit Red Rock Crossing, a great place to picnic with iconic Cathedral Rock (you've probably seen photos) by the creek.Enjoy your trip!

Rancho Sedona is a nice park.Great locationHWY 89A from I-17 exit is roughly 25 miles south to Sedona and 8 miles of that is very curvy switchbacks and steep down grades. 50' limit enforced.Hwy 179 from I-17 exit is roughly 14 miles back north to Sedona. 8 or 9 'round-abouts' which are just big traffic circles. No big issue.

mileshuff....What is "30" in your last sentence? Is that a highway? I never heard of it.Highway 260 goes through Cottonwood. While it does connect to 89A which goes in to Sedona, IMO Highway 179 is the preferred route into Sedona....more direct and breathtaking.

Thanks for all of the advice. We will be going mid- November and will probably take the route thru Phoenix and up the 17 to exit 293 and into Sedona on the 179. They said on the Rancho Sedona website it's a short walk to the shops. We will have a small Rat Terrier with us and don't want to leave her in the MH. Will the shops allow the dog if held? Any outdoor restaurants that allow dogs? We are starting to get them here in LA.

mileshuff...In all the years of living here I never knew that route was 30. We always call it Cornville Rd. Same with Beaverhead Flats Rd. I see Google names it 78, which I never heard of.

We liked Rancho Sedona. Close to town, sites were nice and the owners were helpful about things to do and see around town. Click on my signature photolink to see an album about Ranch Sedona. You'll like it there.

Snow is not common in Sedona. A dusting now and then. However, only a few miles up into Oak Creek Canyon on 89A can get snow packed on the highway.

Glad you found some dog places. I should have qualified my response to include the fact that I was looking for places that offered several gluten-free selections (NOT a fad for me, but a necessity) and that had dog-friendly patios. We were kicked out of Picazzo's; we were told (by the server) initially that dogs were OK in the patio, but a manager came to our table and said their "policies" said differently.

"How is the weather in mid-November, rain or snow?"

Ave temp for 11/15 is 65/35 and last year they had .36 inches of rain. Snow is doubtful but possible. Could not find it real quick to be exact but you are at about 6000 feet elevation.

Thanks, looked up on BringFido.com and found 15 restaurants that allow dogs on the patio.
How is the weather in mid-November, rain or snow? Also, anyone know if Cabela's in Glendale allows overnight parking like some of the other's?

The OP might want to look up Sedona restaurants in advance and find out their dog policy; maybe the situation has changed, but I was there this spring and didn't find any restaurant which allowed dogs on their outdoor patios.

Re: Rancho Sedona: sites are packed together, it's expensive, and it has a lot of "rules". To each his/her own.

Highway 30 connects I-17 with Cottonwood thru Cornville. I've driven it in a car many times. Good road but wasn't noticing if there were any issues for an RV at the time.

I greatly prefer taking 260 to 89 to Sedona over 179. The route is 5 miles longer but much faster and easier drive with an RV. Little to no traffic as is common on 179 south of Sedona although depends on time of day. 179 is very scenic however.

Not a big fan of Rancho Sedona; stayed there once. "Only show in town" attitude and very tight on the roads and most spots.

We stay at Distant Drums in Camp Verde for Sedona; this is quite common.
