Chances of getting a spot at Cheyenne Mountain SP, particularly over a weekend would likely be slim to none. May possibly be able to get a spot at Mueller SP, but it is also popular, though not as much as Cheyenne Mountain.
Agree with the comment that, for a city that size with tourism a major player, there aren't better choices. In Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak RV Park gets good reviews. I checked it out a few years ago, seemed nice, but a bit tight. Facilities seemed to be really good. There's also a KOA south of town in Fountain that seems to be better than most. There's also Golden Eagle, way out of town that gets mixed reviews, but folks I've talked to seemed to like it. Other than that, can't recommend much down that way.
