rivers end campground tybee island

is it a nice campground can you spend a week there the pros and cons
  • Way small sites! We could hear the people next door in there camper. We stay at Skid A Way Island State Park
  • Tybee island has gone through changes over the years. I remember when I was a kid and we went, it was more of a tourist trap type of place. Maybe because I was a kid, but that's what I remember of it. Then about 20-25 years ago when i was there it seemed as it was going down hill in my opinion. The beach seemed trashy. Not so much things in business as much. Then it turned more towards a residential type of place. Last time I was ere was about 5 years ago. Still low key. If you are looking for peace and quiet, then this is the place. If you are looking for myrtle beach, then this isn't the place.

Rivers end is owned by the city I believe. Never been to it, but they did send us information about it to put on our website. We may have to check it out sometime.
  • Never stayed there, but drove thru. Have to agree with K Charles, that if I NEEDED a place to stay, it would work. To us this isn't a CAMPground, but a parking place to use while visiting the beautiful surrounding area. Guess it really comes down to your definition of camping. Nice park, and very conveniently located. The trees really help. Far better than a lot of the others we have seen.
  • We stayed at the River's End Campground last September for a whole week. We enjoyed it. There is a Bark Park not far from there, just down the street a little. We took our bicycles and rode them everywhere, didn't have to pay parking fees. We spent a lot of time at North Beach area. I would take the heavy stuff down in my truck, drop it off with the DW, back to campground, then ride my bike back down. We enjoy Tybee Island so much. We took the grandsons down there a few weeks ago and stayed in one of their pet friendly cabins. It was just a weekend trip.
  • We've spent our last two vacations there. 9 days during the 4th of July last year and 10 this year. Already reserved for next year, so yes you can spend a week there. Just remember you will be on Tybee time , which means a laid back Jimmy Buffet kind of lifestyle. If that's want you are looking for, then you will enjoy every minute. If you want the faster pace with things to do every 15 feet, then this is not the place for you. About the only thing about the campground I'm not crazy about are the bath houses. But I've only been to one park that I could honestly say I loved the bath house.

River's End Campground is not a destination campground it's for people that want to visit Tybee Island and stay in their RV. Could you stay there a week, is up to what you want to do for a week. We stayed a few days with our dog, went down town to the bars and ate sea food, we only used the park to park our TT. The park does have a pool and stuff but you can find that anywhere.

That sums it up well. I did enjoy the short time I was there. Its a short walk or bike ride to the lighthouse and museum.

x3...It's an old style campground that was not bad, kept up, the people are friendly and helpful.
Some good restaurants and decent shopping, I'd stay there again except the overall island was not pet friendly.

  • We visited this campground not too many years ago to check it out while on an automobile vacation. We liked the laid back atmosphere and thought we might camp there in the future. Others have posted here that they don't like it. Maybe it doesn't have curbed roads and watered grass throughout the park, but it does have a nice location. And there are enough people that have stayed there that like it. I'd certainly give it a chance since we stayed on Tybee (motel) and like the place as well as its location relative to downtown Savannah.
  • Most recent entries on rvparkreviews are all over the place from 4 to 9.
We actually liked it when we stayed there a couple years ago.
Overhanging trees and tight turns on the way in had me a bit concerned, but once past the office, things opened up a bit. Our site was big enough - good power and water pressure, etc.
