- fireman93514ExplorerWe always stay at trailer village in the park. Once you are there no driving. Take the shuttle which stops at the campground. You don't want to miss sunset at the park. If you get tired it's easy to go back to your rig for a rest have lunch and head out again. We have stayed outside the park. Never again. You miss the whole national park experience.
- Bob___AnnExplorerX3 for Grand Canyon Railway Campground in Williams.
- bee_46ExplorerI would recommend Trailer Village. Just hook-up and ride the shuttles. Stayed there in 1989 and again this past summer. Elk and deer roam the campground.
- djsamuelNomadAnother vote for Trailer Village. We were there in September 2014 and thought it was great.

Picture 2 - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIFor the best experience of touring the Canyon, stay inside the park at Trailer Village. It is so convenient and is right near the Rim. The free shuttle picks you up at the campground entrance and you can ride all day long getting on and off whenever. NOTE: This is completely different than the above-mentioned Camper Village.

You didn't mention your RV size but if you don't need hookups, Mather or Desert View in the park are very nice. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIGrand Canyon Camper Village is just outside of the park in Tusayan. Not the greatest of RV parks, but it is near the canyon.
- mileshuffExplorerWe always stay at Grand Canyon Railway park in Williams. Most of our time is spent in the Williams area. We take 1 day and drive to the Grand Canyon and return back to the RV park in the evening. The rest of our days are spent around Williams and Flagstaff. RV park allows guests to use the hotel resorts indoor pool and Jacuzzi. There is also an onsite kennel if you need to leave a pet for the day while site seeing.
Around Williams is Bearizona drive thru animal park, Deer petting zoo, several lakes for fishing etc. Williams is a fun very town that hasn't lost its small route 66 town atmosphere. - qtla9111NomadIn Tusayan, we boondocked off the FS 302, one mile from the entrance to the park. Great camping, secluded, quiet, and truly in the forest. You can actually walk to town, less than 1/4 mile to Tusayan. We loved it and it was free. There were only two other rvs within sight. There is another boondocking spot inside the park but I can't find it right now.
- VeebyesExplorer IINothing really close by. You are either in it, S rim, or far away. Might as well stay right there in the Trailer Village & use the shuttles to get around. Whatever might be saved in CG fees by staying far away in Williams is going to get eaten up in fuel & commute time.
- Mike_TavernitiExplorerWe stayed at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park. Nice place, but about 60 miles from GC in Williams, AZ.
