- mlburstExplorerWe stayed at Rush-No-More Campground in Sturgis when we visited Mt Rushmore - also a Passport America park - big rig friendly and the owner & his staff are great.

Also just after leaving the Rushmore monument parking lot, you can turn to the left, go about 1/4 mile, and get a side shot of Washington.
Fred.
Although I am seriously dyslexic, I'm pretty sure you want to go left to head down the mountain to Keystone, or right toward Hill city. The side view of George is heading toward Hill City.
As to the OP, call Rafter J and make a reservation for the "Island". You won't be disappointed. We have spent many weeks as guests there over the last two decades, and it has always been a wonderful experience. There are several separate camping areas. The island seems to be where the big rigs congregate. The sites are huge, long gravel spots, plenty of space between sites, and in a beautiful meadow. - WC7610ExplorerStayed last summer at Fort We Like it. Had no problem with our 40'. Older crowd and quieter place. Just outside of Custer. Clean showers/restrooms.
- WhitehouseLVExplorer IIIWe are currently staying at Rushmorr KOA. It has about every activity you can think of. Nice campground. The negatives. The campground is full & at night their are a lot of campfires and because the resort sits in a valley the smoke just hovers. if you have asthma or smoke bothers you this might be a problem.
The sites: specify your overall length & # of slides. We have a 40' toyhauler fifth wheel. It fits but the truck does not. Have to park sideways. A lot of campsites are like this. - Kentucky_JoeExplorerWe stayed at Rafter J for nine nights and used it as our base and really enjoyed it.
- LindaAnnExplorerWe also stayed at the KOA--same size RV. I agree with other posters that it is nice--close to Mt Rushmore and has activities, along with a restaurant, ice cream shop, and pizza place--and a shuttle to Mt Rushmore.
