Schoodic Woods campground, Maine

We stayed at Schoodic in July and it was great. It was actually the first time I had ever used my RV's shower because we had water but no actual shower facilities. Even that turned out ok. =)

Schoodic point is a great time. My kids (10,8,5) walked on the rocks for 90 minutes before getting bored. That's almost a record.

Great place to see a sunset too!

I had hoped that someone in town would open a shower facility, like over at Blackwoods in Acadia. It would be a good business. As my camper is not self contained, I won't be able to stay at the new campground for more than a night or two. I love the area and I hope they will solve this problem.

the vault toilet is actually for the hike and camp sites. There are nice bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks throughout the campground....but no showers nowhere !

WE'RE BACK

We just came back from Acadia and Schoodic Woods Campground.... That campground is just beautiful.
Loop B has water/electricy, and Loop A has electricity only. That being said, the bathrooms are nice (Everything is new).....but there are NO SHOWERS on the campground.
Sites are huge and super clean with a picnic table and a big fire pit.

Schoodic campground is 5 minutes from Winter Harbor. Quaint little town (not too many stores) but still has an IGA, Ice Cream place and a few restaurants. The Raven's Nest is a very good restaurant (A little pricey, but the food was great).

Take a ride to Schoodic Point....you won't regret it. Bring your folding chairs or sit on the rocks and enjoy the views.

If you plan to go to Bar Harbor (a little less than an hour away) you have three choices:
1- Take your car (good luck finding parking)
2- The shuttle bus from the campground (no cost....it's free)
3- Take a ferry from Winter Harbor ($24.00 return each adult)...45 minutes.

As for Acadia NP on Mt Desert Island......your car or the shuttle.

I forgot to mention: The shuttle will accommodate your bikes.

I camped for years up there at Ocean Wood Campground, which was very special. I'm glad to see a new campground has been established and look forward to trying it. I've tried to find out if showers are available somewhere but have not gotten any replies from the chamber of commerce nearby. Please let me know what you have found out during your stay!

We were in Acadia in 2014, We stayed at Blackwoods CG, we made a day trip over to the beautiful Schoodic Point area, (before the cg was built), want to go back, perhaps next year, would love to spend several days in the new CG. Be looking forward to some photos.
Although Recreation.gov has photos of some of the site, but not all.
