Seattle Campgrounds and Tours

We will be arriving in the Seattle area in mid May. We only have one full day available (on our way from Ontario to Victoria, BC). We will be driving a 30 Ft Class C with no tow vehicle.
Is there a campground that you might suggest that would have access to getting to Seattle for a day and taking in a tour?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Roger

  • The KOA in Kent has gotten very trashy. Dirty and unkept the last three times we went there. Did not stay because of it.

That was my impression as well. Appeared to be a lot of long term rentals - I would not have been comfortable there. Also seemed rather tight for a larger rig.

To the original posters question about tours. If you are talking about Grey Line tours or similar, I don't think we have those here. At least I have never seen them like I do in other cities we visit. A google search will validate for you.

They have what are called Duck Tours which might be kind of fun. An amphibious vehicle that does part of the tour on land down town and part in the water.

Points valid about where to stay. LP by far the best choice. Kent KOA was kind of dumpy last time I drive through. Might be better now.

  • Seattle, like most big cities has lots to see and do and if you only have one day, I think I would go visit the Space Needle and Pikes Place Market. You really need to take the transit system and fill your pockets with quarters for exact change. Also check out the Underground.

  • :B You got that right. It is a very nice park with easy access to the city and highway 405.
  • LP is the best! BUT be sure to get a reservation! You WILL NOT just drive in and get a spot!
  • We stay at the KOA in Kent - the city bus stops right in front of the campgound

    Very handy
  • I Agree with the others. LP is a great place and easy access to the freeway and on up to Canada. Lots of restaurants, shops and grocery stores nearby - even with in walking distance.

Important GPS note though; Your nav will have you turn left before you should. This is because a turn was added recently for a quicky lube place (which is a rip off joint).
Do Not turn left into the resort until you see it on your left!
