- realterExplorerSo pretty with all the Christmas decorations. Just be careful with the weather, ice storms and all those hills are a bad combination.
- rvnuttsExplorer IIThe city of Branson also has drive through lights that are just beautiful! Love all the Christmas Shows at SDC. Just dress for the weather and you will be fine. Another don't miss Christmas show is at the Sight and Sound Theater. It is a simply beautiful telling of the Christmas story. It would be my favorite of all!
- Kentucky_JoeExplorerWe went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The lights were spectacular. Probably the best we have seen anywhere. The three special Christmas productions were great. We enjoyed the crafts in the craft barn. It was cold but we had dressed for the weather. It isn't cheap, but we thought it was worth the money!! You might want to stop by the Dewey Short Visitor Center at the dam. They have a movie, and nice displays. Well worth a stop, especially on a cold day when you can't be outside. We have workcamped there three years.
- kennethwoosterExplorerWe will also be at SDC for the Thanksgiving season. We love the area for the holiday. SDC can be a little cold so dress for it. We have a good time going through looking at lights and eating. Our kids and grandkids will ride the rides. Come on and enjoy.
- ericsmith32ExplorerThere's not only SDC to go to in Branson for Christmas. We're going down there after Thanksgiving. Will spend one day at SDC, opens 12ish and will stay till after the parade that night. Cold probably.. have coveralls and several layers for all four of us. The other days will go down to the Landing. Will be in the RV so can't do the Shepard of the Hills light show.
- rexlionExplorerAll you can do is check the weather before you go. December days can vary from 60s to 30s for highs, depending. No way to predict what weather patterns will be like. You could go to Weather Underground website and search historical date for the month, which will give you normal and record highs and lows for the dates you're considering.
I took my wife to SDC this past March. She was looking forward to seeing the different craft demonstrations (glass blowing, pottery making, etc.) but 3/4 of them were still closed for winter. Neither of us wanted to ride the rides, we're a bit old for that. The music performances in the pavilions were nice, especially the 'country pickers.' Overall, we felt like the place was definitely worth less than half of what we paid. The folks who really make out the best would be the ones who buy an annual pass and take their kids multiple times per year for the rides. - louiskathyExplorerSDC for the Holidays is very special. A few of the skits change. The train won't get robbed... (I won't spoil it for you... ) Just check the schedule carefully.
Hope you have good weather for your trip. - PegLWExplorerSilver Dollar City goes all out for the holidays with decorations out the waazoo, parades and shows. The vast majority of the park will be open and operational with the exception of perhaps the water rides. Bundle up and enjoy it! It's a great place to get the holiday spirit!
Since we live only 30 miles away, we've been there many times in all seasons and the holidays are a favorite time to go!
