We are in Skidaway Island State park right now. It is a fairly smallish park with a few trails and bike trails. The campground is actually quite large - a good portion of the park. They have been remodeling the sites, and have added FHU sites and pull-thrus. Cable is a work in progress. The sites are all spacious, and quite far apart. We are not on top of either neighbor. Progressively, the comfort stations get better. #1 is the oldest and in need of the most love, while #3 is the newest and it shows.There is no pool. But the park is quiet, and a 20 minute drive puts you in Savannah, and about a 35-40 minute drive puts you on Tybee Island.Skidaway is a great launching point to explore the area, and we will be staying here again.Paul

Was there once and really liked it. Hope they removed a few of the trees along the cg roads. Long rigs can have some difficulty maneuvering with so many trees and the crooked roads.

We didn't find the trees to be any issue. You just have to be careful. We are glad they are finally adding FHU to the park. That would be a great addition. The privacy provided by the sites surpass most other Georgia state parks. We will be going there again next summer so hopefully we can get a FHU site.

Thinking of going there in September,want to launch a boat and fish and camp.

Been there, liked the place. Most if not all site parking is parallel to the roadway and pull thru. Makes for large sites. I enjoyed hiking the trails through the swamp especially after dark, very spooky feeling.I wonder if they will ever fix/reopen the pool?There is also a small nature center where they have programs for kids.

We stayed at the end of December and enjoyed it. We went to the fake submarine they had by the Naval base and got pictures.

That said, I certainly wouldn't recommend the Savannah Oaks rv park, west of Savannah. Stayed there recently and it's just not a very nice park.

We won't be getting back to the South anytime soon, but when we do, Skidaway Island is high on the list. Had dinner at the Crab Shack on Tybee Island - didn't need to eat again for three days.........!!!

Skidaway's one of our favorites on the route to Florida. The large sites are especially appreciated for added privacy. It's one of the reasons we appreciate most state parks in general. We don't care for the parking lot setups that pass for some cgs.

I forgot to mention that the park has added full cabins. They are cute with a little screen porch with rockers!:) The cabins sleep 6, and have full kitchen. You do need to bring everything you need, If we had to have work done out on the road, this type of set up would fill the bill nicely. My Father and his wife would like this option as they run back and forth between SWFL and the Jersey Shore.

If the cabins are a hit here, they will add more. Apparently, these cabins are working well in other parks. Just wanted to add that.

According to the Park employee, the pool isn't on the radar.
