Others have mentioned some specific attractions and I wont mention them again for the most part, but you have a great loop available, 95 south to Del Mem bridge then either 95 south to DC and Richmond, 64 east to see Williamsburg/Jamestown , and the Busch Gardens, Water Country USA for kids. And on to the NC Outer Banks, or do US 13 from the Del bridge, see Chincoteague and take the Ches Bay Bridge tunnel, and then to the Outer Banks, from there Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Savannah, And on to Fl.
After the Mouse House try Canaveral, see some Manatee's A couple of beach towns and then up 75 to 16 to Atlanta, on to 26 and into Asheville and Biltmore gardens, To cool down some, Mount Mitchell and some 6000 foot elevations and as well as Smokey Mountain Nat Park. At that point you can connect to the Blue Ridge Pkwy north to 81 .
Or of course reverse the order, but either way you get a wide variety of types of terrain and scenery and enough activities to keep the kids busy.
