Funny, it seems that after the BP oil spill the fishing hasn't been nearly as good as years past. How many times have you been out? and what have you caught? - Gr8lifeExplorer II

The reason it has "blossomed" has a lot to do with the fact that the weather has kept a lot of people indoors and on their computers this winter. Today's high of 69 degrees is nice compared to home, but not great for those who want to enjoy the swimming pools and other outdoor activities. The sun must be visiting elsewhere this month. - LynnandCarolExplorerWe never thought this post would blossom like it has..lol! Spring Break in Port-A is alive and well the beach is covered morning to night rain or shine. The temp is there just not the sunshine. We came down in August and staying till further notice so the last 2 months of iffy weather was a definite downer, but not the end of the world. Will gladly wear a jacket if required instead of a winter coat, hat, gloves and snow boots. no ice scraper or snow shovel either!!
Had a great time with friends, neighbors, and our new local friends. Ate well, drank good, laughed, enjoyed the surroundings, and got to be part of the friendly culture of the south-TX coastal bend (Rockport, TX). The seafood and fishing was awesome!! Feel blessed that I could leave the frozen tundra for south TX. Really hope next winter's weather is better!! Right now we are looking forward to the awesome April-June weather and hoping the pool is ready when it gets hot! - John_JoeyExplorerAsked a local SPI resident how spring break was going for them. Their reply was "what spring break." The bad weather (maybe even some prior safety concerns) linked with social media is changing how the younger crowd is spending their money/time in the area not only snowbirds. Fancy marketing isn't going to fool a tech savvy crowd.

Feel blessed that I could leave the frozen tundra I call home for south TX. Really hope next winter's weather is better, would be a shame to give up on TX just because of climate change (if that's what is happening.)
Hey, Boston set a new record. Way to go!!!! - pawattExplorerEven the Chamber of Commerce is thinking of looking for warmer weather.
- her_IExplorerThis is two years in a row that the full timers keep saying "This the coldest winter/wettest winter I can remember." If this is the new normal, it is time to rethink things.
- Gr8lifeExplorer III know they like rain in the RGV, but enough is enough. Two sunny days this month so far and not much predicted for this week. At least it is over sixty degrees.
- pawattExplorerI used to count the days I wore long pants, one winter it was only 3 days, average was 2 - 3 weeks, this Winter about 2 months, but then I am getting softer too.
- TomG2ExplorerAll that I know is that our outdoor Happy Hours have moved indoors a lot more than they used to. Maybe we are getting softer? We used to spend 70% outside and 30% inside and those statistics have just about reversed the last two winters. But it's all over now. Breakfast on the patio in one hour.
- jrs1871ExplorerWe have been coming to the RGV for 14 years and the last 2 years have been the coldest. I think last year was actually colder but this year has been wetter and way more clouds. I too hope this is not the new normal.
