There are many, many great places and things to do in both Southern Missouri, and North West Arkansas.
Mountain View is great if you like the music. Eureka Springs for us is OK for a day but way too crowded most days for our taste. We usually camp at one of the places on Table Rock lake when in Branson area. Gets us away from the crazy crowd but not too far away.
Check out
Harrison Village RV Park on the south edge of Harrison, ARK. This will centrally locate you for camping and allow many easy 1 to 2 hour drives to a lot of Arkansas treasures. The campground is right on Hwy. 65 and the owners are great.
It will be hard for you to go wrong once you escape St. Louis!
