There are many reasons that people boondocks in remote areas
Among those are many styles of camping. Some seek to leave the least possible 'mark' on the land so that others might also enjoy nearly untouched wilderness. Another type says 'it is my public land as a citizen and I'll do as I danged well please' and all shades between.
Do locate the proper maps, I'm pretty sure you can find a place you like, with the level of 'isolation' that you want.
The only possible thorn in the plan is the ability of your rig to handle unimproved roads. A recon trip into the area with your most off road capable vehicle is a good idea.
