This is a very good thread. I started rebuilding my 1969 Avion camper with boondocking in mind. Since I was going to put it on a trailer, (even though I always kept it pickup truck capable in minutes) I decided to make it my ultimate boondocking rig. Here are some of the things that I did to it.
Original camper 30 gallons of water- Rebuilt with 40 gallons,
Added more water w/ pump under the trailer for a total of 80 gallons,
LED lights everywhere, including running lights,
Added 60# of LP to trailer for a total of 100# of LP,
Put 20 gallon gasoline tank with pump under trailer for gen and quads,
Installed 3 burner 30,000 btu outside Camp Chef stove for cooking,
Installed several LP quick disconnects for stove and accessories like external Camp Chef hot water heater for outside shower, (one of the nicest additions that I made)
Trailer made to take second quad,
Now I'm installing a 250 watt, 24 volt Sharp solar panel with an Eco Worthy MPPT controller. We will see how it works out. I think I'm finally getting close to decent boondocking rig.
