I am always wondering; “What type of Boondocking are you interested in?” Remote locations, for a weekend completely off the grid or Remote locations for weeks/months at a time, off the grid? For me, it is the latter. With that, I have a completely different system.
1) 1 LED Swing arm light on the dinette. Why spend $$$$ on lights I am not going to use, over a 2 or 3 seconds?
2) Redundancy on many life issue items, so as not to pack up’ and leave, just because the generator broke or the invertor cooked.
3) Potable and Non Potable water sources with extended tanks and source equipment to draw from streams/ponds/lakes/& my favorite, windmill stock tanks.
4) 2 AGM 6V batteries in warm camper (240AmpH)
5) 8 FWC GC2 6V batteries in aux location (928 AmpH)
6) 300w & 600w solar in separate banks (redundancy) with separate controllers (TriStar 45)
7) 1500w Xantrex & 2000w Xantrex Inverters (redundancy)
8) Extended Propane, 100g main tank with separate 14g Reserve tanks (redundancy)
9) Composting Toilet
10) Solar Bucket Shower and remote Potable Water filler
11) Wave 6 Cat Heater
12) 2 Speed Furnace Fan
13) Food storage & purchasing list for extended periods
14) Honda & Onan Generators (redundancy)
15) LED TV
16) Switched from Laptop computer to a Desktop without Power robbing Hard drives & Accessories and iPad.
When I have been asked what my favorite mod is, I always show them the Key hook I put by the door, so I don’t have to climb into the camper to retrieve any keys, as well as reach them when I am in the camper.
