visiting Valley of the Rogue State Park in Oregon

We plan on a one night stay at this State Park around December 19th or 20th. Does anyone know if it's crowded then? Not sure which day so don't want to pre-register. Would hope we could just pull in and pay for the night.

  • If you are turned away for lack of a site, there is a rest stop right next to the entrance to the campground. As to how long you can stay there, ?
  • We have stayed there quite a bit. You might have snow over the mountain passes but not @ the park. There is the B loop which is open....other 2 are closed for the season. Lot of spots in that loop. You won't have a problem.
  • Not particularly high camping season in southern Oregon. You are highly likely to encounter snow and really cold nights. As a suggestion you might want to go about 60 miles farther north and spend the night at 7 feathers in Canyonville. At least you will get full hookups there.

X2 on 7 Feathers. Great park with outstanding facilities. 24 hr. free shuttle to Casino.:)
  • You will be fine with the park. Snow on the mountain passes could be an issue, but that is hit and miss just watch the weather reports. The park is really nice and you should not have any problem finding a site.
  • Every year in either July or Aug we stay at Valley Of The Rogue and have never been turned away. Never had a res but we always stop on a sunday evening as a lot of campers go home and back to work {dirty word}. Always have full hookups

  • Seems like it might be a gamble since that's Christmas vacation- high travel season in many places.

If you're counting on having a place with hookups, you may want to reserve- if you're prepared to boondock if the park's full, there are rest stops along I-5 where overnighting is permitted.
