Walt Disneyworld Area park advice?

Have decided to visit Disneyworld area. Way too late to get into Fort Wilderness unless there is a cancellation. So, any advice on local parks with good access? Looking to be there the end of October or early November. Being a left coaster, I have no clue. Has been 20 years since I have been in the area. THANKS for any advice on where to stay or areas to look at.
  • I also have stayed at Tropical Palms.. I would stay there again if Disney were full......
  • We stayed at Tropical Palms in March and were pleasantly surprised. We've stayed at Fort Wilderness before and were concerned about what to expect but it was very nice. They have a pool that serves snacks and drinks (adult style as well). Can walk to Old Towne which is a neat little place. We were also able to walk to a mini golf (a nice one, not dumpy) and to Joe's Crab Shack. I would recommend the premium black top or cement sites. The grass sites can be quite unlevel (we stayed on one).
  • There is also a KOA in Davenport that has a `free' shuttle to Disney. The quotes are because we tipped the driver.
  • Ft. Summit koa off I 4 is good also Tropical Palms by Old Town on Irlo Bronson both convenient to Disney.
