Like anything, location drives prices, but most of the comments about high RV park rates are for locations that also have demand for hotel space and consequently high prices as well. The guy with the 50% guideline is pretty close to accurate in many instances.
I would draw the line at $100 + then you begin to hit 3 & 4-star hotel pricing.
