On a 6 week trip through the 4 corners area last summer, we averaged $15/night. This included 6-7 nights at Walmart while making time, and half of the rest without power. 90% of the trip in National Parks.
Fastforward to this summer. We want to be at Myrtle Beach on July4th...paying $75/night! This is the highest we've ever paid, and if it were me alone, I wouldn't go. But...it's a park with tons of amenities for the kids and on the water. I'm sucking it up.
I don't pay over $25/night for our local weekend trips.
