Michigander here. I haven't found a tipping point yet. I look for amenities and places that don't have breed/size restrictions on dogs.
I pay $30/night to camp at a state park, without hookups. Some are difficult/impossible to get into.
We stay at a mix of private and state parks. The private parks are at least $55/night. I don't mind paying this rate because it seems to be the norm and they have many amenities we are looking for. We tend to go on weekends and holidays and the prices reflect our timing.
This summer I'm staying at Cherry Hill and Liberty Harbor. I believe at Liberty Harbor, I am paying $80/night to park in a parking lot with electricity.
